Take a Ride on the Target Train!

6 Train at Canal Street

Much to my surprise this morning, the usually humdrum 6 train rolled into Union Square dressed to the nines thanks to Target.

To announce their new store opening in East Harlem on July 25th, Target wrapped the exterior of some 6 trains in these wonderful graphics, all with a hand-drawn feel to them. Using their bullseye logo and signature red color, Target created graphics celebrating the city and the store’s new home.

More pictures and a video after the jump…

Rooster’s design graces The Daily Heller

Rooster's cover for NYCHA's Green Guide

With tears in our eyes, we bid our partnership with desigNYC adieu.  It was a great experience and we’ve met some wonderful people along the way.  We are also pretty proud of the end result and hope NYCHA and NYC can boast significant energy savings in the years to come.

The grand finale is tomorrow evening at the Pratt Manhattan Gallery Space.  Each group will showcase their efforts over the last half year and discuss their experiences.  It’s supposed to be a packed house of more than 250 guests; can’t say we’re surprised.

But it’s not a sundae without the cherry on top and our cherry came this morning via The Daily Heller.  One of Print magazine’s blogs, The Daily Heller announced the closing ceremonies and featured our design as a project example.  A link to all the project videos is included in the article, or you can click here to see ours.

UPDATE: Other incredible DesigNYC mentions include PSFK and New York Magazine.

Salvatore Bklyn Ricotta

Anne Saxelby, owner of Saxelby Cheesemongers in NYC, is spot on when she writes  that a scoop of Salvatore’s ricotta is a little scoop o’ heaven on a plate.  Read more on her description of the velvety yumminess at Equire’s “Eat Like A Man” blog.

She even offers a 10% off discount to readers (not that you needed an excuse to click the link OR go get yourself a tub of heaven).

Fuqua Film Program Screens Its First Group of Student Films

Posted in Stuff We Like by Jessica on June 7, 2010

On June 4th, I attended a special screening of the Fuqua Film Program’s introductory group of student films. The screening was held at the Tribeca Screening Room where friends and family of the filmmakers attended and showed their support.

The Fuqua Film Program is based in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Founded by Antoine Fuqua, director of “Training Day,” the program was created in response to the overwhelming support received by Fuqua and his team while shooting his latest film, “Brooklyn’s Finest” in the neighborhood. Matt Coleman, the director of the program, was present at the screening. Matt, along with the student filmmakers, provided the audience with a short history of the program and an introduction to each featured film. (more…)
